Recreation Here at Home - There is a great variety of opportunity for leisure time in the Hershey’s Mill Estates and West Chester area. I’ll highlight a few of them here but the list extends almost without limit.First, there is the swimming pool area here in the development. The pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day and is the hub of many activities. There is a kiddies pool that the younger children love because it is shallow with a fountain is the middle. The large pool is busy all summer long with not only swimmers but also as a focal point for pizza, hamburger and other parties on Friday nights as well as major neighborhood parties on the weekends. The Newcomers’ Party starts the season off and it ends with a final get together over the Labor Day weekend. The tennis courts are next to the pool and provide young and old with many opportunities for exercise and fun. Some of the public and/or semiprivate courses in the area are: Honeybrook Golf Course, Honeybrook, PA - a very nicely maintained layout in Amish country. Downingtown Golf Club, Downingtown, PA – this is a great test of golf. It has a good full service restaurant on the property. Ingleside Golf Course, Thorndale, PA – it’s more challenging than it looks, especially number 8.
East Goshen Township Park – East Goshen owns a lovely 55 acre park on Paoli Park across from the Chester County Chamber of Commerce building. It has many sports activities such as baseball, softball, soccer fields, tennis, volleyball courts as well as a 1.5 mile equipped fitness trail. Marsh Creek State Park – This is a lovely small state park of 1705 acres with a nice small lake (535 acres) for fishing and sailing. Great place to picnic. Rafting and Canoeing – There is some good canoeing at Brandywine Outfitters. They rent canoes and day trips can be arranged. Movie Theaters – There are many movie complexes within a few miles of Hershey’s Mill Estates. The closest is a Regal Entertainment theater in Frazer on Route 30 with 9 theaters but others such as AMC are in the surrounding area. All the newest releases are shown.Major League Sports – All the major sports are represented in the Philadelphia Area and the Philadelphia fans are among the most demonstrable in the Country.
